About The Lion Heart Half Marathon

The Lion Heart Half Marathon is a benefit run with a mission  beneficiary is the Lion's Club of Woodward. The Lion's Cub is 501(c)3 non-profit who's mission is to provide annual scholarship to local high schools students, provide local eyeglass assistance to Woodward Citizens in need, annually donate to the Woodward United Fund, Woodward County Christmas Toy Giveaway, Woodward Arts Theater, the Woodward Plains and Pioneer Museum and more. We are an affiliate of the International Association of Lion Clubs.


Prize money for 1st 2nd, 3rd place male and female overall finishers in half marathon
Finisher medals for all half marathon finishers
Standard age group medals in both races for top 3 finishers
Technical shirts for all entrants

Race day

Saturday, June 14th, 2014
5:30 a.m. - Registration Opens
6:30 a.m. - Half Marathon Begins
7:00 a.m. - 5k Begins, Festivities Begin

Race day registration will be 5:30 am to 6:30 am at Boiling Springs State Park Picnic area south of swimming pool. 


Race Days Events
Events will include a half marathon (13.1 miles) and five kilometer (3.2 mile) road race on an "out-and-back" style course with rolling hills. The State Park Rangers and Woodward Police Department will assist with traffic control but roads will remain open and registrants should expect some traffic. After the races, festivities will take place near the start and finish. Registrants can expect a family friendly, festival like atmosphere. 

Parking will be available for registrants, volunteers, and spectators around the main picnic area, swimming pool area and office area. 

Aide Stations
Registrants should expect a total of 5 (5) opportunities of water, Gatorade and fruit to stop at an aide station. Woodward Regional Hospital is providing water, Gatorade, and miscellaneous fruit at the turn around and at least two other drink station along the out and back race course. We ask that registrants using gels, blocks, or any other wrapped product dispose of the wrapping around the aide stations or at the finish line.
